English Toffee #recipe

Another Recipe Friday is upon us :) How about some English Toffee? I have the feeling this snack would win over a courter very easily. Just don't try it on someone you know you don't have interest in.

English Toffee

1 c gradulated sugar
½ lb butter (do not use margerine)
2 T water
1 t vanilla
¾ c almonds, chopped
1 c chocolate chips

Cover large cookie sheet with vegetable oil.

Put first four ingredients in heavy-duty sauce pan and cook, stirring constantly. After 3 minutes, add almonds. Cook until color is like a brown paper bag (about 10 minutes). Pour onto cookie sheet. Pour chocolate chips over the top. When the chips have melted, spread evenly over candy with a knife.

Cool, break in pieces of desired size.
